Viole, Daniel Georges

Viole, Daniel Georges a learned French priest, was born at Soulaire (diocese of Chartres), in 1598, of an old noble family. In 1623 he entered the Order of Benedictines at St. Maur, and then studied theology at Corbie. He spent his days in quiet study and historical research, dying at Auxerre, April 21,1669, and leaving several works, for which see Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Géneralé, s.v.
