Shorter, James Alexander

Shorter, James Alexander a bishop of the African M.E. Church, was born in Washington, D.C., February 4, 1817. Entering the ministry in 1846, he served as pastor until his election to the episcopacy in 1868. He was a delegate to the (Ecumenical Conference in 1881. He died July 1, 1887.
