Mayan Version of the Scriptures

Mayan Version Of The Scriptures Mayan is the vernacular of a tribe of Indians inhabiting Yucatan, a peninsula to the east of Mexico, projecting northward between the gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean sea. In 1864 only a part of the gospel of Luke was published by the British and Foreign Bible Society in this dialect. In 1869 the gospel of John was printed in England, the translation having been made by the Reverend R. Fletcher. See Bible of Every Land, page 468. (B.P.)
