Machault, Jean De

Machault, Jean de a French Jesuit, was born at Paris Oct. 25,1561; was admitted into the order in 1579; became professor of rhetoric at the College de Clermont, Paris, and afterwards rector of the College of Rouen. He died as provincial of Champagne arch 25, 1619, at Paris. He published In Jacobi Thusani historiarum libros notationes lectoribus utiles etnecessarim (Ingolstadt, 4to), which was condemned to be burned.See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
