Helmich, Werner

Helmich, Werner a Dutch Protestant divine, and one of the early promoters of the reformed religion in that country, was born at Utrecht in 1551. In 1579 he was chosen pastor of his fellow-citizens. In 1582 he was the first to preach the Protestant religion openly in the cathedral of Utrecht. He was pastor at Amsterdam in 1602, and died August 29, 1608, leaving Analysis of the Psalms (1644).
