Buddha, Living a term applied to certain saints among the Mongol Tartars in Thibet, who are believed to have passed through various stages of being, and supposed to be fitted to preside over a Lamasery (q.v.). He is also called a Chaberon, and such superiors are in large numbers, and placed at the head of the most important religious establishments. He may commence his career with only a few disciples, but, as his reputation grows, the number of his followers increases, and his temple becomes the resort of many pilgrims and devout persons.
