Wood, Francis Asbury, D.D.

a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Charleston, S.C., June 23, 1830. He graduated from Charleston College in 1850, and was admitted into the South Carolina Conference in the same year During the war he was commissioned as chaplain, and served in the Charleston hospitals. In 1869 he became president of Soule University, and in 1873 of the Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, remaining there until his death, November 11, 1884.
