Trubner, Nicholas

Trubner, Nicholas a publisher of London, who died April 3, 1884, deserves an honorable mention for the great interest he took in Oriental research, and more especially in Indian studies. His Record has always been a welcome and invaluable visitor to all those who were interested in such pursuits, and the assistance which it has rendered to Oriental learning cannot be overestimated. But Mr. Trubner's interests and sympathies were not confined to these researches. The history of religions, the study of languages, the development of political life in the East, all claimed a share of his time and thoughts. Many struggling scholars have lost in him the best friend they had. (B.P.)
