Story

Story appears in the A.V. at 2Ch 13:22; 2Ch 24:27, as a rendering of מַדרָשׁ, midrash (q.v.), a commentary, or historical statement (comp. "Caesar's commentaries"). SEE HISTORY; SEE TALE. In Am 9:6 it is the translation of מִעֲלָה, maalah, a step, as often rendered. SEE DEGREE; SEE STAIR. In Ge 6:22; Eze 41:16; Eze 42:3, the word has been supplied by the translators in the sense of the successive floors of a building. SEE ARK; SEE TEMPLE.
