Siege (some form of צוּר, tsur, to press in a hostile manner). The Egyptian and Assyrian monuments depict all the operations of capturing a city (see Wilkinson, Anc. Egypt. i, 387 sq.; Layard, Nineveh, ii, 281 sq.). SEE WAR.
