Shook, Jefferson

Shook, Jefferson a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Madison County, Mo., May 20, 1820; was converted and joined the M.E. Church in 1838. He was licensed to preach Sept. 18, 1841, and the same year was admitted into the Arkansas Conference. In 1844 he was transferred to the Texas Conference, and at its division in 1845 he fell to the East Texas Conference. About 1854 he became supernumerary, and, with the exception of one year, held that relation until his death, Dec. 20, 1872. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M.E. Ch., South, 1873, p. 893.
