Shelah

She'lah (Heb. Shelah', שֵׁלָה, a petition, as in 1Sa 1:17; or rather perhaps peace, i.q. Shiloh Sept. Σηλώμ or Σηλώ ν. r. Σηλώ), the youngest son of Judah by the daughter of Shuah the Canaanite (Ge 38:5,11,14,26; Ge 41:12; 1Ch 2:2). B.C. ante 1873. His descendants, some of whom are numerated in 1Ch 4:21-23 are called (Nu 26:20) Shelanites q.v.). For Shelach (A.V. "Shelah," 1Ch 1:18), the son of Arphaxad, SEE SELA.
