Schottgen, Christian a Lutheran theologian and philologist of Germany, was born at Wurzen, Saxony, March 14, 1687. He studied at Leipsic, was in 1716 rector at Frankfort-on-the-Oder in 1719 at Stargard, Pomerania, in 1728 at Dresden, and died December 15, 1751.
