Russel, William

Russel, William a Scotch prelate, was a native of the Isle of Man and abbot of Rushen. He was consecrated bishop of the Isles in 1248, and held a synod at St. Michael's in 1350, in which five additional canons were made. He died April 4, 1374. See Keith, Scottish Bishops, page 303.
