Roman

Roman ( ῾Ρωμαῖος), a citizen of the Roman empire (q.v.) (1 Macc. 8:1, 23-29; 12:16; 14:40; 15:16; 2 Macc. 8:10, 36; 11:34; Joh 11:48; Ac 2:10; Ac 16:21,37-38; Ac 22:25-29; Ac 23:27; Ac 25:16; Ac 28:17). Such persons, wherever born, were entitled to special privileges. SEE CITIZENSHIP.
