Remonstrance, Arminian This is a document drawn up by Uytenbogaert, and presented, in 1610, to the states of Holland, against the decrees of the Synod of Dort. It specifies the five Calvinistic points of doctrine, and then in five articles states the Arminian positions. On this account it gives rise to what is known as the SEE QUINQUARTICULAR CONTROVERSY (q.v.). The Calvinistic party afterwards presented a Counter-Remonstrance. See Schaff, Creeds of Christendom, 3:545.
