Pompaei

Pompaei (πομπαίοι), certain gods among the ancient Greeks, who received this name as being conductors by the way; but what gods are specially referred to is uncertain, unless Mercury be meant, whose office it was to conduct souls to Hades. On certain days, called Apopompae, sacrifices were offered to the Pompei.
