Pelton, Samuel

Pelton, Samuel a Presbyterian minister, was born in Montgomery, Orange County, N.Y., March 25, 1776. He received his education in a classical school at Montgomery, studied theology privately, was licensed by Hudson Presbytery, and ordained by the same in 1816 as pastor of the Church at Hempstead, N.Y., and subsequently of the Church in Haverstraw, N.J. He died July 10, 1864. Mr. Pelton was a man of strong mind, a ready preacher, and a good pastor. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1866, p. 160.
