Miall, Edward

Miall, Edward an English Independent minister and journalist, was born at Portsmouth in 1809. He was educated at the Dissenters' College at Wymondley, Herts, and served for three years an Independent congregation at Ware, and afterwards one at Leicester. In 1841 he went to London, and established the Nonconformist, a paper in the interests of religious equality, becoming proprietor and editor, a position which he continued to occupy until his death, April 30, 1881. He was several times a representative in Parliament, and wrote numerous works on political and ecclesiastical subjects.
