Marban, Pedro De

Marban, Pedro De, a Spanish Jesuit and missionary, flourished near the close of the 17th century. In 1675 he went to Bolivia, and later to Mexico, and labored industriously to spread the Gospel of Christ among the savages of America, and finally became superior of all the missions of the Jesuits in this quarter. He wrote Arte de la Lengua Moxa, con su vocabulario y catechismo (Lima, 1701, 8vo). — Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Genesis 33:361.
