Luca, Antonio De

Luca, Antonio De cardinal-bishop of Palestrina and vice-chancellor of the Church of Rome, was born October 28, 1805, at Bronte, Sicily. In 1863 he was made cardinal, and died December 29, 1883. He was one of the most prominent members of the college of cardinals, chief of the apostolic chancery, and, with the cardinals Pitra and Hergenrither, had charge of the archives and the Vatican library.
