Lower Parts of the Earth

Lower Parts Of The Earth (תִּחתּיּוֹת אֶרֶוֹ), properly valleys (Isa 44:23); hence, by extension, Sheol, or the under-world, as the place of departed spirits (Ps 63:9; Eph 4:9), and by meton any hidden place, as the womb (Ps 131:3). In the original of Eze 26:20; Eze 32:18,24, the words are transposed, and used in the second sense.
