Locales

Locales a name anciently given to ecclesiastics who were ordained to a ministerial charge in some fixed place. At the Council ofValentia, in Spain, a decree was passed that no priest should be ordained unless he would give a promise that he would be a localis. Indeed, ordination at large was not considered valid.
