Lindsay, Alexander

Lindsay, Alexander a Scotch prelate, was preacher at St. Madoes, and bishop. of Dunkeld, where he continued until 1638, when he renounced his office, abjured episcopacy, submitted to Presbyterian parity, and accepted from the. then rulers his former church of St. Madoes. He acquired the barony of Evelick, in the case of Gowrie. See Keith, Scottish Bishops, p. 98.
