Landaff, Council of

Landaff, Council Of (Concilium Landavensse). Three such are given in Mansi (9:763 sq.) dated A.D. 560; but, even if genuine, they were simply meetings of the bishop, his three abbots, and his clergy, for excommunicating or absolving great offenders: in the 1st case Meuric, in the 2d Morgan, kings of Glamorgan; in the 3d Gwaednerth, king of Gwent; all of them under Oudoceus, third bishop of Llandaff, and therefore scarcely before the 7th century. "The book, however, in which these records occur is a compilation of the 12th century" (Haddan and Stubbs, Councils and Documents, 1:125, 147).
