Kiel, Tobias

Kiel, Tobias a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born at Ballstadt, near Gotha, October 29, 1584. He studied at Jena, and died as pastor of his native place, in 1627. He is the author of several hymns, one of which, Herr Gott nun schleuss den Himmel auf, has been translated into English (Lyra Germ. 2, page 278), "Lord God, now open wide thy heaven." See Koch,
