Jouffroy, Francois Gaspard De
Jouffroy, Francois Gaspard De a French prelate, was born in 1723 at the castle of Gonsans, near Besancon. He became canon of St. Claude, then bishop of Gap in 1774, and of Mans in 1778. Being elected a deputy of the states-general in 1789, he protested against the decrees of the assembly, and went into exile in 1792. He was received by the chapter of Paderborn (Westphalia), and given a revenue of six thousand two hundred florins. He died there in 1797. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
