Jemima
Jemi'ma (Heb. Yenzinzah', ימַימָה, dove, from the Arab.; Sept. ῾Ημέρα,Vulg. Dies, both mistaking the derivation as if from יוֹם, day), the name of the first of Job's three daughters born after his trial (Job 42:14). B.C. cir. 2200. "The Rev. C. Forster (Historical Geography of Arabia, 2:67), in tracing the posterity of Job in Arabia, thinks that the name of Jemima survives in Jemama, the central province of the Arabian peninsula, which, according to an Arabian tradition (see Bochart, Phaleg, 2, § 26), was called after Jemama, an ancient queen of the Arabians" (Smith).
