Jaw

Jaw (usually and properly לחַי, lechi', rendered also "jaw-bone;"' once מִלקוֹחַים, mcikochin', "jaws," Ps 22:15, elsewhere "prey;" also מתִלּעוֹת, methalleoth'," "jaws,"' Job 29:17: "jaw teeth," Pr 30:14; "cheek teeth," Joe 1:6). The denuded jaw-bone of an ass afforded Samson (q.v.) a not unsuitable weapon (see Seifferheld, De maxilla asini, Tübing. 1716) for the great carnage which he once effected (Jg 15:15). SEE LEHI.
