Hyperboreans

Hyperboreans in Greek mythology, were a fabulous people, living north of the Riphaean mountain chain, and were said to be very wise and happy, living many hundreds and even thousands of years, and at last dying by leaping into the sea. But Herodotus, Strabo, and Pliny affirm that there is nothing else meant than northern nations, and that these are extravagant accounts of ordinary human beings.
