Humphrey, Heman, D.D.

a Congregational minister, was born at Simsbury, Connecticut, March 26, 1779. He graduated from Yale College in 1805; was pastor of the Congregational Church in Fairfield from 1807 to 1817; in Pittstield, Massachusetts, from 1817 to 1823; president of Amherst College from 1823 to 1845; and then retired to Pittsfield, where he died, April 13, 1861. Dr. Humphrey was the author of, Tour in France, etc. (2 volumes): — Domestic Education: — Letters of a Son in the Ministry: Life and Writings of Professor W. Fiske: — Life of T.H.
