Holland, Guido

Holland, Guido An English Jesuit, was born in Lincoln about 1587. He was educated at the University of Cambridge, devoting his time mainly to metaphysics. After graduation he went to Spain, and here pursued a course in theology. In 1615 he entered the order of the Jesuits, and was sent to England as a Roman Catholic missionary. He died Nov. 26, 1660. He wrote a work of some importance on the immortality of the soul, under the title Praerogativa naturae humanae. Jocher, Gelehrt. Lex. 2, 1674.
