Hashabniah

Hashabni'ah (Heb. Chashabneyah', חֲשַׁביָה, i.q. חֲשִׁבַניָה,Hashabnah; Sept. Α᾿σβανία, Σεβανί), the name of two men about the time of the return from Babylon.

1. Father of Hattush, which latter repaired part of the walls of Jerusalem (Ne 3:10). B.C. ante 446.

2. One of the Levites appointed by Ezra to interpret the law to the people (Ne 9:5). B.C. cir. 410.
