Grillet, Jean a French missionary, one of the first explorers of Guiana, was born about 1630. He joined the Jesuits, and was sent out to Guiana, where he became superior of the establishment of his order until the English squadron destroyed the colony, October 22, 1667. In 1674 he made an exploring tour through a part of that country, of which on his return to France he published an account. Grillet died about 1676. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
