Green, Lewis Warner

Green, Lewis Warner a Presbyterian minister, was born in Boyle County, Kentucky, January 28, 1806, and educated at Centre College, Danville; studied one year (1831) at the Princeton Theological Seminary, was licensed by the Transylvania Presbytery, and appointed professor in Centre College. Subsequently he was elected professor of Hebrew and Oriental literature in the Western Theological Seminary, at Allegheny City, Pennsylvania, which position he occupied for many years. In 1848: he was elected president of Hampden Sidney College, Virginia. He died May 26, 1863. ,He was an eminent scholar and a lowly Christian. See Wilson, Presb. Hist.
