Gouda, Jan Van

Gouda, Jan Van a Dutch Jesuit, who died December 28, 1630, at Brussels, was for some time professor at Antwerp and preacher at Brussels. In his sermons he was especially severe against the Protestants, and his coreligionists styled him therefore malleus hcereticorum and nurus Catholicorum. His writings are mostly directed against ministers of the Reformed Church. See Alegambe,
