Fabre, Jean

Fabre, Jean a French preacher, was born at Tarascon, in Provence, about 1370. He entered the order of the Carmelite friars in 1390, and preached with success in divers churches in Provence. Pope Martin V appointed him archbishop of Cagliari in 1423. Fabre governed his diocese for seventeen years. Having been made patriarch of Cmesarea, he resigned his archiepiscopacy, and ended his days in retirement about the year 1442. His sermons have been collected under the title of Homiliae Sacrae.
