Erebus (ἔρεβος, darkness), in Greek mythology, is the infernal region, the subterranean, chaotic night; being represented as.son of Chaos and Caligo. Erebus does not seem to be identical with Tartarus. His descendants are the following, by Night: Age, Death, Fate, Abstinence, Dreams, Epiphron, Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos, the three Parcse, Dispute, Evil, Malice, Nemesis, Euphrosyne, Friendship, Sympathy, Styx, and Sleep.
