Erdt, Paulinus

Erdt, Paulinus a German Franciscan monk, professor of theology at the University of Freiburg, was born at Vertoch in 1737. He displayed much zeal in opposing infidelity, both by his translations from English and French as well as his own works. The most important of his works is Historiae litterariae theologiae rudimenta octodecim libris conprehensa, seu via ad historiam litterariums theologiae revelatae, adnotationibus litterariis instructa (Augsburg, 1785, 4 volumes, 8vo). Erdt died Dec. 16,1800.
