Dawson, Benjamin, LL.D.

an English Presbyterian minister, grandson of a clergyman ejected in 1662, took his degree at Glasgow; settled at Congleton, Cheshire, in 1752; removed to St. Thomas's Church, Southwark, about 1754 in 1759 joined the Church of England, became rector of Burgh, Suffolk, and died in July, 1814, aged eighty-five years. He published, Lectures in Defence of the Trinity (1764): — Dialogue on the Question of Liberty and Necessity (1780): — two tracts on The Intermediate State: — An English Dictionary on a New Plan.
