Cuthburg

Cuthburg (Cudburg, Cudburh, Cuthbritha, or Cuthburga), sister of Ina, king of Wessex, was the foundress and first abbess of Wimburn, cir. A.D. 705. She had been the wife of Alfred, king of Northumberland, and a nun at Barking. She is commemorated August 31.
