Cushman, Isaac Somes

Cushman, Isaac Somes a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at New-Gloucester, Maine, in 1823. He graduated from Bowdoinl College in 1844; subsequently from the Medical School of the same college; and for three years practiced medicine in Saco. In 1851 he entered Concord Biblical Institute, and in 1853 joined the New England Conference. During the civil war he was chaplain of the Thirty-third Massachusetts Regiment, and afterwards surgeon of the First Massachusetts Cavalry. In 1864 he re-entered the pastorate in the Maine Conference; and in 1867 was transferred to the New England Conference in which he continued until his sudden death, September 6, 1870.
