Cramp-rings are rings of precious metal, supposed to prevent cramp. (They are attributed by Hospinian to the claim of Westminster Abbey to the possession of the ring given by St. John, in the guise of a pilgrim, to Edward the Confessor. On Good Fridays the kings of England used to bless finger-rings for this superstitious purpose.
