Crafts, Eliphalet Porter

Crafts, Eliphalet Porter a Unitarian minister, was born at North Bridgewater (now Brockton), Macssachusetts, November 23, 1800. He was fitted for college by his father, who was a clergyman (a graduate of Harvard College in 1785), and graduated from Brown University in 1821. After being engaged for some time in teaching and occasional preaching, he was ordained in November, 1828, and settled in East Bridgewater, where he remained nearly eight years. In 1839 he became pastor in Sandwich, and continued until 1854. After this he resided in East Lexington, teaching, and preaching in vacant pulpits, as he had opportunity. Next, he was minister at Eastport, Maine, from 1866 to 1876, and in the latter year removed to Waltham, Massachusetts, where he died, January 16, 1880. See Brown University Necrology, 1879-80.
