Cowell, David

Cowell, David a Presbyterian minister, was born at Wrentham, Massachusetts, in 1704. He graduated from Harvard College in 1732. Having studied theology and received license to preach, he went as a supply to Trenton, N.J., in 1735, and in April 1736, became pastor. At the division of the Presbyterian Church in 1741, Mr. Cowell remained with the old side. On the union of the two synods he joined the New Brunswick Presbytery, and continued in relation with it until his death, December 1, 1760. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer. Pulpit, 3:66.
