Covel, Samuel

Covel, Samuel a Methodist Episcopal minister, on of Reverend James Covel, Sr., was converted when a young man, and in 1821 entered the New York Conference. In 1852, on account of ill-health, he became superannuated, and continued to hold that relation to the close of his life, early in 1860. Mr. Covel was a deeply pious man, an ordinary preacher, but had few superiors in ardor or faithfulness in the ministry, or success in revivals. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1861, page 91.
