Conzie, Francois De

Conzie, Francois de a French prelate, brother of the following, was born at Poncin, in Bugey, March 18, 1736. He was first grand-vicar, then bishop of St. Omer, and, in 1774, became archbishop of Tours. As deputy of the clergy to the states- general of 1789, he protested against the reunion of the three orders, resigned in 1791, and went to Aix-la-Chapelle. He afterwards wrote against the civil constitution of the clergy, and. published, in June 1791, a mandate which was condemned, in July of the same year, by the tribunal of Tours, to be torn and burned by the hand of the executioner.
