Constantine of Constantinople

Constantine Of Constantinople deacon and chartophylax of the metropolitan Church of Constantinople, lived before the 8th century. There is a MS. in the library of the Escurial, a Greek discourse upon the holy martyrs, entitled Oratio Encomiastica in Onnes Sanctos Martyres. This discourse is often cited in the Acta of the second Council of Nice, which proves that Constantine lived before the holding of this council, or before the 8th century. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.; Smith, Dict. of Gr. and Rom. Biog. s.v.
