Compton, William a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in London, and emigrated to America in early life with his parents. In 1809 he entered the Virginia Conference, and subsequently became a member of the North Carolina Conference, in each of which he labored, as health would permit, to the close of his life, in November, 1847.
