Combes, Francisco

Combes, Francisco a Spanish Jesuit and traveller, was born at Saragossa in 1613. He was sent to the Philippine Islands to propagate the Catholic faith. On his way to Rome to represent his province, he died at Acapulco, in 1663, leaving, in Spanish, a History of the Islands of Mindanao (Madrid, 1667). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
